A Business And Entertainment Attorney Focusing On Relationships And Client-Driven Results

I’d rather work with people who have dreams I can believe in, rather than deep pocketed but morally bankrupt corporations.

My Timeline

Graduated SMU in 2012 with Double Major in Industrial Engineering and Math

While at SMU, I cofounded four student organizations that remain successful today, which attests to how important entrepreneurship is to me. Even though I majored in science/math fields, I also focused heavily on finance and economics, through coursework, research, and self-study.

Graduated from UCLA Law in 2015 Specializing in Business Law

While a law student, I helped to restart the Intellectual Property Law Association. I also volunteered through the Public Counsel CARES program, helping local indigent people in need of legal advocacy at DPSS offices throughout LA, from the westside to skid row. My most notable case was when I spent the entire day helping a lady from Iran seek political asylum in the US. At UCLA Law, I served as submissions editor for the Journal of Law and Technology when I wasn't busy competing in Mock Trial.

Working for Downtown LA Firm through 2016

When I was working at the prestigious BigLaw firm in downtown LA, my experience ranged from complex commercial cases to music copyright class actions. The first few cases I worked on dealt with values up to 9 and 10 figure sums, with incredibly complicated issues. As an associate, I also spearheaded difficult discovery projects. I also made sure to take on some pro bono cases.

How I Stay Busy

I love traveling, both domestically and abroad. The most rewarding road trip I’ve done was in April, when I drove from LA to Seattle, stopping by San Fran, Sacramento, Chico, and Portland to catch up with friends.

Many people think you’ve got to leave the country to see something different, but just the drive up to Washington led me through breathtaking changes of climate and geography, and took me through towns of different cultures and attitudes.

Relatedly, I enjoy hiking and camping whenever I can take off for a few days.
Besides that, I’ve been learning more instruments as well as music production. I can play the violin and the guitar, and am currently learning the sax and the piano. I’m also currently learning Russian and Swedish. I already know Spanish and Chinese, and plan to keep learning more and more languages.

“Al Young is the definition of 'consummate professional.' As I’m an entertainer who really doesn’t know much about law, Al makes every option clear, understandable, and, most importantly, I trust him. No matter what the payment system is, I know he’ll be in my corner. A great guy and a sharp thinker, I wholeheartedly recommend Al Young.”

Zachary S. Music Director of "Cruel Intentions: The Musical"

“Working with Al Young has been one of the best business experiences I have ever had. He has a true passion for people. He is an exceptional team player and I can't thank him enough for his legal guidance and assistance in preparing some of our compliance documents. I highly recommend Al Young to anyone looking to work with an attorney who truly cares.”
